Anatomy Of An Infantry Squad

This time we will dive into the backbone unit of the game, the Infantry Squad.     The Infantry squad usually takes a minimum of 5 troops, and while they can max out at 20 in some cases, (see partisans) they mostly max out around 12 troops. Each squad needs an NCO to lead them, if this soldier is killed then the unit suffers -1 to their leadership. Generally there are two types of roles your infantry squad will provide. Support, or Assault.  For our example we will use a German Veteran Heer Grenadier squad. I want this unit to provide support to other units in my list which will be mobile to assault objectives, this unit is built to  be static and put pins on the opponents units.  7 Man Heer Veteran Grenadier Squad (Support) -1 NCO with rifle -2 Troops with Rifles -2 LMG teams, each consisting of a gunner with the LMG and a loader with a rifle.  *The loader cannot fire his rifle while the LMG is firing, if the loader is killed ...

Assembling your first 1000 point army.

One of the questions that comes up most in all the social media groups for Bolt Action is a variation of "How do I build my army?" Do you think you have more soldiers than they have bullets? Do you like horde armies to the likes of Orks...

An Introduction to Bolt Action, and The Band of Brothers starter kit.

Back in 2016 after spending the previous year obsessed with 40k I bought 2 bolt action sets just because I thought they looked cool. The first was the Fallshirmjeager starter army, then the Band of Brothers starter. Without a clue of how the game worked I took a small plunge essentially for the models. The boxes sat for months and it wasn't until I picked up another box of Soviet infantry while working a gig in New York where I had some time to kill at a place called The War Store which has since closed. I never been to the brick and mortar store but had good times browsing the massive isles of their distribution warehouse which was open to customers.      As for actually getting started, the Band of Brothers kit has the best value for $80-$100 depending on where you buy. It has a small rule book, order dice, 2 small armies, templates, a cardboard ruler, cardboard quick reference rule guide, and some very small D6 dice that I never use. You also ...
